UnionCare is closely monitoring the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus). The health and welfare of our employees and customers is of the utmost importance. We've taken a number of steps to promote a safe working environment while maintaining day-to-day operations with as little disruption as possible.
Many state governments have issued stay-at-home orders and the closing of non-essential businesses. Under these orders, many businesses in the financial services sector, including UnionCare, are considered essential businesses, and are therefore permitted to remain open.
We are operational and available to answer any client's questions. We have also implemented policies designed to comply with state mandates and to ensure the safety of employees who live and work in those states.
At this time, almost all of our staff is working remotely. However, we continue to stand by, ready to serve and support you. We will continue to provide reliable, open access to the products and services you require.
Effective immediately, Union Labor Life will extend the grace period for payment of premiums to 90 days from the due date. We are also offering an optional 12-month payment arrangement to pay any past-due premium, without fee or penalty. In addition, we are extending the time to submit claims for benefit payments an additional 60 days from the date they would otherwise be due.

Please know that each claim received will be reviewed consistent with the policy terms and applicable insurance law.
Life Insurance: For Life Insurance, there are no policy limitations that would limit a claim payment resulting from COVID-19, provided the individual met all other policy or certificate requirements.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D): AD&D policies do not cover illnesses or diseases. Therefore, death due to COVID-19 is excluded, as are all deaths caused by illness or disease.
Hospital Indemnity: Because COVID-19 is a virus, it would be considered a sickness and the hospital indemnification benefits (admission and confinement) would be payable provided the individual met all other certificate requirements.
Hospital Accident Care Plan: Hospital Accident Care policies do not cover illnesses or diseases. Therefore, hospitalizations due to COVID-19 is excluded, as are hospitalizations caused by illness or disease.
